Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) Eligibility, Requirements & PR Pathway

Eligibility Requirements for FSWP
A. Skilled Work Experience
To qualify for FSWP:
- You must have at least one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in an occupation classified under NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- The experience must have been gained within the last 10 years.
B. Language Proficiency
- A minimum of CLB 7 in all four language abilities: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Accepted tests: IELTS, CELPIP (English) or TEF/TCF (French).
- Language results must be valid on the day you submit your PR application.
C. Education
- If you studied in Canada, you must have a valid certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized institution.
- If educated outside Canada, you must obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to prove your credential is equivalent to a Canadian qualification.
D. Proof of Funds
You must show you have enough financial resources to support yourself and your family after arriving in Canada unless you:
- Are already working in Canada, and
- Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
FSWP Selection Factors (Points System)
If you meet the basic eligibility criteria, your profile will be evaluated out of 100 points based on:
- Age
- Education
- Work Expericnce
- Valid Job Offer
- Language Skills (English/French)
- Adaptability (likelihood of successful settlement)

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) Skilled Trades PR Pathway
The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is designed for workers with experience inspecialized trades who want to become permanent residents of Canada through the Express Entry system.
Minimum Requirements
- Two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the last five years.
- Minimum language scores:
- CLB 5 in speaking and listening
- CLB 4 in reading and writing
- Must meet the job requirements of your trade under the NOC.
- Must have either:
- A valid job offer for at least one year, or
- A certificate of qualification from a Canadian province, territory, or federal
body.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)– PR for Canadian Work Experience
The Canadian Experience Class is designed for individuals who have already gained skilled work experience in Canada and wish to transition to permanent residency.
Minimum Requirements
- At least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years.
- Language requirements:
- CLB 7 for NOC TEER 0 or 1
- CLB 5 for NOC TEER 2 or 3
- Canadian education is not mandatory; however, if you studied outside Canada, an ECA is required.
